Of all the places we visited, the Villandry Garden is my kindred spirit. Just one look and I knew I was in heaven. Here I stand by the Kitchen Garden. The plants are mainly vegetables, accented by shrubs and roses. I love that the colors and patterns are made by vegetable plants. Directly behind me, running along the fence, are apple trees. The branches have been trained to run along the fence and the trees are no higher than 2 feet tall! Amazing!
There are 9 full time gardeners and many volunteers. This garden requires a lot of work. For example: there are 1260 lime trees that take 4 men 4 months to prune. These men are from England. It is part of their gardening course to work at Villandry for 3 weeks. Where can I sign up?!

All these beautiful pictures of France is making me eager to go. Im impressed with all you know and remember about the places you have been, I wish I were more like you as a tourist. Im eagerly awaiting the rest of the trip!
Your pictures are beautiful and you found some of the most enchanting parts of France. Dad and I look forward to the next installment of your trip. If this works you'll notice our odd "user" I was fooling around in Texas one day trying out different email names. This one stuck, and I didn't even know it until I asked for my info. ha ha
Thank you, thank you everyone for commenting. It gives me motivation to keep going. =) Brynn, I'll give you info on the Loire Valley, if you're interested. It is where all the chateaus are. And mom, "d" makes you sound hip and cool - love it.

Just wonderful! I have been pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the pictures of France. Makes me realize my own ignorance. The garden pictures are incredible. I love espalier and was excited to hear that you did too. I have only seen it once in Disneyland (haha). I often think about trying my hand at it. :)
Gardens are great. I think when Dave and I are rollin' in it (by it I mean money) I will make a cool vegetable garden like this one... ok maybe not like this one, but as close as I can get. :)
Steph, you can hire me as a gardener. It will take most of your cash, but I'm worth it. ;)
This is another place I have been dying to visit! You have captured some spectacular scenes from the gardens!
