England - Bury Abbey

In Bury St. Edmunds the town has created a lovely park around the ruins of the ancient abbey. Saint Edmunds was buried there in 869 AD. They have finished construction of the Cathedral (which was begun 500 years ago) and the gardens are lovely. The English Rose Garden exists due to financial gifts from a John Appleby of the US Air Force. I like that an American had a hand in this historical site.
