Evening of day 7 in Europe and we arrive in Pons. (Thus named because of all the bridges.) We got to the village about 7pm and didn't get to the Bed and Breakfast, Les Balcons de las Seugne, until 8pm because, well, to be honest, the roads in this town are INSANE!! You can barely fit a car on the roads, they are one way and lined with ancient buildings so you can't see anything but what is right next to you. Our map was useless. We finally got to the right road, it's going the right way, and we hit construction. The only road being worked on in the whole town, and it's the one we need. We have to go all the way around the town to get to the road from another direction. VERY FRUSTRATING. The good news is we finally made, with only a few handfuls of hair lost. We were kindly greeted by Ingrid and Oliver, their two children and one rascal dog, Boule. Boule was a stray they found. His welcome was a friendly bite on a limb. He especially loved Matthew.

After getting settled in our rooms, we walked through the town. We saw the "castle" and had french pizza (not the kids' favorite). Pons dates back around the 1500's. Many buildings are that old. Our B&B was from the 1800's, and the family's portion was from the 1600's. I loved the old lights and decorations on the ceiling. Ingrid said there had been more old lights, but they were frustrating to work with and she slowly switched to more modern features. She and Oliver have done the remodeling and the yard was just dirt when they bought it. They put in the garden as well.
